How to fit your extensions!

Methods involving wefts of hair

Wefted hair is when extensions are sown onto a strip to create a long "weft" of extensions, the weft can then be cut to measure so that it perfectly fits into your natural hair so that extensions are disguised.

Clip ins

Extensions are measured to fit the head and then hand sown onto clips that then fit into the hair. Clips comes in two different sizes to suit thick or thin hair and you will be shown how to put the extension in securely. The beauty of clip in extensions is that they can be used time and time again, and are very easy to dry and style, whether you want to curl them or straighten them. People with hair below their shoulders who want to add thickness or even more length might be suited to having just a few rows whereas people with shorter hair might need more – you can decide how thick you want them!

Liquid Gold

Liquid Gold is a special glue that is formulated for use with hair extensions, the wefts are again measured to fit and are glued onto your own hair at the root. This does not damage the hair at all, and is one of the most secure ways to wear extensions. The outcome is a very natural look as they are bonded very close to the scalp and are disguised by your natural hair very easily. There is a limit to how thick you can make your hair using liquid gold as there needs to be space between the wefts. It is most suitable for people who are looking for extra length rather than extra thickness. Using this method, hair can be washed and styled as normal, taking care to avoid using direct heat from hair dryers and strengtheners on the bonds. If extensions are looked after they will stay in the hair for 4-8 weeks before refitting is needed. One big advantage with Liquid gold, is that once removed, the extensions can be cleaned and treated and can either be re-installed or made into clip-ins.

Strand by strand applications

Individual, strand by strand application ultimately leads to a more natural look as the hair flows with your own, the hair is bonded individually at the root on very small pieces of your own hair – below are 2 different methods of application.

Shrinkies

Shrinkies, or shrink tubes are very tiny tubes that shrink when heat is applied, squeezing your hair and the extension together. With this method you cannot feel the extensions at all, they will be very light and almost entirely invisible. This method is ideal for people with thinner hair as the bonds do not need to be hidden as much due to their tiny size. Shrinkies create the ideal look for that special occasion; they are removed very easily and are not suitable for long term wear. They create an amazing look and can be styled very easily, it is for this reason that they are most popular for people who want a new look for a wedding or party.

Fusion bonding

Fusion bonding is another strand by strand method of application and is the most popular in celeb-land. The extension is pre-prepared with glue and is placed next to a strand of your hair and fused with heat. This creates a very secure bond that can be washed and styled as normal. These extensions are more flexible and versatile than shrinkies and are suitable for most types of hair. With proper care they can last up to 12 weeks before they need to be reinstalled.
